I tried that ...

<Assembly: SecurityPermissionAttribute(SecurityAction.RequestMinimum, _
UnmanagedCode:=True), _
Assembly: PermissionSetAttribute(SecurityAction.RequestMinimum, _
Name:="FullTrust")>

... thing. Still no work.

Same problem here, looking for ways to make SecureString visible in COM... no luck so far.

So is that the problem. SecureString gets nerfed in a COM component and the string passed to StartProcessInfo is basically "a bad password", therefore "Access is denied" ?

Apparantly MS does not allow the use of SecureString or it's attributes in COM objects entirely. Even if you hard code the username and password in the code itself and just calling a function from COM to execute it still does not work, so indeed seemingly the SecureString doesn't work at all.

The only thing that I think might work is a topic I found on Visual Studio 2003 Standard. VS2003 Standard does not allow COM object to be made (other versions do) but you are able to do so by making an EXE project, then edit the project file to be a DLL and it compiles.

Maybe trough this trick we might be able to get SecureString support in COM as well.
